Global Technical Lead for Malaria and Other Communicable Diseases
Fred Hartman is the Global Technical Lead for Malaria and Communicable Diseases. He is an infectious diseases physician and epidemiologist, who started his career in smallpox eradication working with the CDC and WHO. Along the way he has been involved in numerous outbreak responses to cholera, hemorrhagic fever, SARS, leptospirosis, bioterrorism, and now Ebola. With MSH, he has provided technical support to our projects in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya in malaria, HIV and TB, neglected tropical diseases, pandemic/epidemic preparedness, and a variety of other technical subjects. Fred has lived in Afghanistan as the Technical Director of the REACH Project and as Chief of Party of a child survival project in Honduras.
