Introduction to QuanTB

This course is now open! Follow the instructions above to join and start learning.

To promote a systems-strengthening approach to TB medicines management, the USAID-funded Systems for Improving Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program developed QuanTB. QuanTB is a downloadable desktop tool that transforms complicated calculations into a user-friendly dashboard displaying key quantifications and supply planning information. By alerting users to risks of stock-outs, QuanTB operates as an early-warning system. The QuanTB tool is available for download here.

Goal & objectives

The goal of this course is to strengthen learners’ skills for appropriate quantification of first and second lines, and other TB commodities, to ensure uninterrupted supply in national tuberculosis programs (NTPs).

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Effectively use QuanTB for quantifying anti-TB medicines and other commodities
  • Identify and monitor important data elements required for implementing an Early Warning System (EWS), to prevent stock outs and overstocks
  • Identify and properly respond to challenges contributing to inadequate quantification

This self-paced course is tailored to health professionals working in supply chain management, NTP managers, pharmacists, partners, international and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and those using QuanTB as a forecasting, quantification, and early warning tool.

The course includes two modules with interactive video demonstrations and knowledge checks. The first module is designed as a refresher and provides relevant background information on general quantification. The second module focuses on the use of the QuanTB tool. The full course will take you approximately 5 hours to complete. A certificate will be provided for those who complete the full course.
