Save the Dates for Unleash the Power of Good Governance Seminar – May 11-13, 2015

Good Governance Saves Lives

Are you ready to help strengthen the performance of your local health organizations’ governing body?

You will see practical new ideas to improve the work of health system governing bodies in our upcoming LeaderNet learning opportunity May 11-13th.

Consider this situation…

A 35 year-old farmer in Sierra Leone died last week from Ebola. He died because the district health system was slow to encourage community health workers to routinely go into his village to help disinfect the houses. He died because the provincial health manager failed to have enough chlorine to use for disinfecting the beds and rooms of 20 villages in the districts of the province.

The farmer left a 30 year-old wife and four children. He did not die because of bad medicine. He died because of poor health program management and governance!

Health systems need new attitudes and new planning processes to anticipate and improve the ways in which they protect, promote, and restore health. We need to explore new ways to improve the work of local health system governing bodies.

If you would like answers to these five questions, join us in the LeaderNet seminar…

  • What is the role of a governing body that oversees health programs, community health centers, and hospitals?
  • What is good governance for health, and what are the Key Practices of a Good Governing Body?
  • How can governing bodies make the lives and work of managers good, bad and ugly?
  • What can managers do to better develop the work of their governing bodies?
  • How can the manager and board chairperson best develop mutual trust and a positive working relationship?

“Is poor governance constraining your organization’s performance? Unleash the power of good governance”

The USAID-funded LMG Project is thrilled to announce a free 3-part webinar and seminar series that will help you unleash the power of good governance in your organization – whether government or a non-governmental – and reap the benefits of higher organizational performance.

The LeaderNet Seminar (May 11-13) will build on the presentations and discussions in the two preceding webinars (Wednesday, March 11th 8 – 9am EST and Wednesday, April 15th 8 – 9am EST) that will explore governance challenges facing provincial and district health systems, public hospitals, civil society organizations serving vulnerable and key populations and the organizations providing reproductive health and HIV and AIDS services, and multi-sector governing bodies. Register here for the webinars.

In this series working with you, governance experts will discuss the factors that constrain governance effectiveness in service delivery organizations, explore solutions to these challenges using real life examples, and review tools, techniques, and approaches that will help you overcome them. Participation in this series will help you improve governance and performance of the organizations where you work. The registration for the LeaderNet Seminar will begin in May at leadernet.org.
